Firearm Information for Decker’s Jewelry and Pawn

How to get a loan on firearms?

Yes you can pawn your firearm for a short-term loan. Almost every firearm is allowed to be pawned in South Carolina. (Please read below for further details.) This allows you to keep ownership of your firearm and collect some quick cash.

There is no requirement in South Carolina dealing with an "unregistered" firearm. Firearms in South Carolina, excluding machine guns and other Class 3 Firearms, do not have to have any type of registration.

This means that if you were given a hunting rifle by your father when you were growing up, this firearm is allowed to be pawned and is legally yours, following you are legally allowed to own a firearm. Nearly all firearms are eligible to be pawned in the state of South Carolina.

This is stated in:

ARTICLE 7

Yes we do! A firearm lay-away is 25% down of the total sales price and the monthly payment will vary depending on the price. Monthly payments can range from $15 a month to $150 a month.

Do you do background checks?

By Federal Law, anytime a firearm leaves our store we must do a background check. You must fill out the 4473 Form that verifies your information. It asks questions such as name, address, ethnicity, and a few other basic questions. The background check is free and may take as little as 5 minutes for the entire process.

If you have a South Carolina or Military CWP then you may qualify to have your background check skipped. You will still have to fill out a 4473 but we will not have to wait on a response from the ATF.

What are the age restrictions to buy a firearm?

You must be 18 years old or older to purchase a long gun (rifles, most shotguns etc.).

You must be 21 years old or older to purchase a handgun.

Required Identification

To purchase a long gun (shotguns, rifles etc.) you must have a valid government issues picture ID such as a driver's license.

To purchase a handgun you must have a South Carolina government state-issued ID such as a driver's license.
